Effects of the Application of the New Forest Code on the small farmer and the environmental viability of Family Farming
(2013) The effective implementation of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), the creation of incentives linked to the costs of forest restoration or isolation of areas for the natural regeneration of Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs), the approval of Environmental Regularization Plans (PRAs) ) and the discussion on the environmental feasibility of family farming are some of the critical factors for environmental regularization and the implementation of the new forest law to occur. The objective of this article is to analyze the rules of the “new forest code” for family farming, discuss possible impacts and the environmental adequacy of this group of producers, proposing actions that contribute to environmental regularization and the expansion of production in a sustainable way.
