GDP of Brazilian family farming and instruments for monitoring its agricultural production

(2017-2019) The study, on demand of the Special Secretariat for Family Agriculture and Agrarian Development (SEAD), via the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), aimed to understand the real spatial distribution of Family Agriculture (AF) in Brazil and its role in gross value addition. To this end, the study unfolded in three fronts: the first developed a robust methodology for estimating the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the AF based on secondary data; the second built a comprehensive primary data collection strategy for the productive characterization of PA in qualitative and quantitative terms; and the third carried out the modeling of prospective scenarios related to the dynamics of production, area and productivity of the main production chains of AF.
