More sustainable post-pandemic recovery in LAC: alternatives for the development of sustainable and low-carbon livestock in Brazil
(2021) After almost two years of the covid-19 pandemic and faced with the urgent need to generate economic dynamism and jobs in Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries, concomitant with low-carbon growth, ECLAC proposed the project Great Environmental Impulse (GIA), aiming to create a business environment favorable to sustainable investments.
The action strategy is to prioritize sectors that generate impacts on the economy and create conditions to produce a GIA towards green economic recovery and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. In Brazil, one of the priority alternatives that requires further elaboration of inclusive and low carbon policies in rural areas is livestock. This study conducted by the GPP aims to provide inputs that contribute to the elaboration of public policies and governance for the sector, supporting the proposal of a “roadmap” for the transition to a more sustainable livestock.
